The Drift HD cameras are packed full of features such as a wireless remote control and color screen for ease of use. The Drift Innovation X170 shoots standard definition video and is a great entry level camera. The Drift HD170 Stealth records full HD video, takes still photos and runs on a rechargeable battery. The newest version is the Drift HD which has a replaceable front lens cover and is 25% smaller than the Drift HD170 Stealth.
Drift Camera key features
The Drift camera range is known for it's wide variety of well thought out and useful features. Drift cameras were the first of their kind to have an integrated colour LCD screen and wireless remote control. Each Drift camera is extremely easy to use and very versatile.
LCD Screen
The LCD screen on the Drift HD and Drift HD720 cameras is invaluable and serves a number of purposes. The LCD screen can be used to line up your shot as well as review your footage in-field to ensure you are getting what you want. Most importantly, you can use the screen of a Drift camera to change your settings in-field and do things like delete clips and photos.
Wireless Remote Control
The Drift HD and Drift HD720 come with a wireless remote control that can be used to stop and start recording, keeping your hands free for the task at hand. With other cameras it can be hard to know if you are recording or not; with the Drift cameras it is easy to start and stop recording with the remote. The Drift cameras give of a loud beep to let you know that the signal from the remote has got through.
HD video recording
The Drift HD cameras shoots full HD 1080p video with a 170 degree field of vision. The Drift HD720 films in 720p high definition with a 130 degree field of view. In addition to shooting in full HD on the Drift HD model, you have the option of shooting at 720p at either 30 or 60 frames per second. The Drift HD720p gives you the option of either 25 or 30 fps in 720p mode or 25, 30, 50 or 60 fps in SD mode. You can also set your Drift camera to take hands free photos and create time lapse videos. The Drift HD takes 9MP photos and the HD720 captures 5MP photos.
Digital zoom and night mode
Drift cameras are the only helmet cameras to come with a digital zoom which allows you to frame your shots better. The digital zoom can be used out to 4x although it does lose significant clarity after 2x. You also have the option of using Night Mode with a Drift Camera which improves the video quality in low light conditions.
1/4" mounting and other Drift mount options
Drift cameras come with a 1/4" female tripod thread embedded into the camera, making it very easy to mount a Drift camera on to mounts like roll bar mounts and suction cup mounts. The Drift cameras come with helmet mounts and google strap mounts included, along with all the cables that you need to hook up a Drift camera to your computer and/or TV.
