The GoPro HD Helmet Hero sits inside a waterproof housing that is rated to 60 meters. All the GoPro mounts attach to the hinge on the base of the waterproof housing which provides excellent protection for the camera in the toughest environments. Replacement lens covers are available if you scratch the housing.

The housing has two buttons to operate the camera - one for stopping/starting recording and one for turning the camera on/off (these buttons are also used for navigating the menu). The buttons can be hard to press with gloves on and the beeps to let you know if you are recording or not can be hard to hear if you have a helmet on. The red light on the front and the LCD display flash when you are recording, so you can get someone to check if you are recording or not without having to take your helmet off.

The side of camera has a USB port for connecting to your computer to download clips and recharge the battery. There is also ports that allow you to hook the camera up to a standard or HD TV for playback (although there is no fast forward or rewind controls during playback).
